The work Clouds engages directly with structural questions of power and interpretive authority. {…} The work references a scene from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, thereby opening a discussion on the relationship between power and the codification of meaning Interpretation is also expanded to include a playful component that reflects how humans are naturally inclined: we seek images, stories and analogies in almost everything that does not immediately reveal itself to us as ‘the one thing’. For example, the reflective outlines of clouds as pure forms may evoke a wilted flower, a diving bird or puddles of water, perhaps recalling childhood cloud-gazing as a happy pastime. At the same time, reflections of ourselves, the sky or the surroundings suggest that perception and perspective are always linked to our own viewpoint and are inherently changeable. In this work, Küchler addresses both political discourse and deeply subjective experiences, opening a space for interpretation that fills the visible forms with a multitude of meanings.
