Hawks and Doves
The work „Hawks and Doves“ shows historical photos of hawks and doves in combination with large scale paintings of book pages. The work deals with the economic and social consequences of industrialization, the topic of how exploitation and social progress were connected. The symbolic connotations of the birds are ancient, hawks being associated with hunting and warfare, doves symbolizing domesticity and peace. Hawks and doves are terms that represent different attitudes towards monetary policy and economic development. Hawks tend to favor a tighter monetary policy to control inflation, while doves support a looser monetary policy to stimulate economic growth.

Eight book pages from „Governing by Debt“, a book on the history of debt policy (published by Semiotexte, 2015) by the author M. Lazzarato. In his discussion of liberal and neoliberal governmentality he describes the present political and economic moment as entirely determined by debt. The author collects a wide range of thinkers on this topic, from Félix Guattari and Michel Foucault to David Graeber and Carl Schmitt.
The texts are painted over with monochrome blue color areas, leaving only a few sentences and the respective chapter topic.
